PEARSONS PRIZE 2008

It was another night of celebration in Liverpool last Friday, as the great and the good from the glass industry gathered for the Pearsons Prize Awards 2008. The event now in its fourth year is gathering pace and is becoming the highlight of the glazing calendar. Even some of the stars from the TV show Hollyoaks were in attendance, along with such names as Schott Glass, Pilkingtons, Lamberts, to name but a few.

Once again the interest in the competition produced a record number of entries of a very high quality, giving the judges an extremely difficult task deciding the category winners.

The evening was the best attended to date, with people travelling from all over Europe for the event. As always the best kept secret was the overall winner, which was chosen this year by Rodney Bender who currently is a research fellow at Swansea Metropolitan University, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a working Glass Artist.
