Liver’s interior gets a lift

OBG has supplied and installed fire doors from its new slimline fire resistant glazing range as part of the multi-million pound makeover of Liverpool’s iconic Royal Liver Building.

The company’s recently launched system exceeds the project’s exacting specification for ultra-slim, non-rebated fire doors to enable dual swing function, plus a 30-minute fire integrity rating. OBG is working closely with Claremont Group Interiors as part of their design and build solution. Interior refurbishment of the Grade I Listed building coincides with the 100th anniversary of the foundation stone being laid and is expected to take up to two years to complete.

OBG is installing a total of 36 fire doors and side panels in the central core of the building across nine floors. The double doors are non-rebated so they can be opened in either direction for ease of use. The minimalist framework has a silver grey powder coated finish and the doors’ fire resistant glass features a sandblasted design of the Royal Liver Building’s famous outline with the fabled liver birds perched on top.

OBG’s new fire resistant glazing system encompasses fire screens, partitions and DDA compliant fire rated doors. The system utilises fully welded ‘seamless’ joints for products with a fire application from 30/0 to 120/120 in terms of integrity and insulation.
